Poetry is written with tears, fiction with blood, and history with invisible ink.

Welp.  Guess it’s about time to reread this.  Again.  Because, you know, I haven’t lately.  (What IS it about this book?)

“I don’t know about being the sexiest man in the world. I am barely the sexiest man in my flat and I’m the only guy living there. It makes me laugh because I see all the faults — I have spent 35 years of my life with myself. But I am very flattered. I don’t know how else to take it but to be flattered and giggle.” (х)

This quote is priceless.  I think it reflects a very charming humility in the face of ravening hoards of fanpeople who would most certainly love to worship him if allowed.  I don’t know if anything in his character is like Sherlock’s at all (it would be hard for me to imagine that, actually), but this quote makes me think he’d be an interesting person to know.  Shame things like that don’t ever happen.

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture.  Just get people to stop reading them.
